The Welland looked very low before Sunday's rain

For years they didn't come near our feeders but this year we've seen loads of them

The juveniles don't have red on their faces.

At last a few butterflies . . .

I'm quite intrigued by the spiral of the coiled proboscis.
I also saw lots of peacocks and several whites and yesterday a blue (holly blue possibly, but no pic).

Here the houses are not obscured by the trees, and can be compared with the earlier photograph.

Moth

This little fellow was on the window frame, so i thought I'd take a quick snap before letting him or her out.  Very small - about 1 cm along the bottom of the triangle.

Poppies

The field just outside Gretton, on the road to Harringworth is stunning again this year.  It's visible as a patch of scarlet from the other side of the valley.
